With so many travel health insurance companies out there, it is at times very difficult to determine which insurance plan is best for you. Here are some important tips when choosing travel health insurance.

• Find out exactly what is covered in your plan and what is not.
• Is there a deductible and how much?
• Are sports related injuries covered?
• Are any medical emergencies due to pre-existing conditions covered?
• Is every member of your family covered in the plan?
• Is the return of your rental vehicle covered?
• Are travel expenses covered in case of medical emergencies?
• Are any meals and hotel stays covered?
  

Knowing the extent of your coverage can help avoid any unforeseen unpleasantries when your claim is reviewed. Make sure you know all details of your coverage. If you do not understand something, do not simply assume, call your insurer. It is better to over-question than to get stuck with a ten thousand dollar medical bill.
